Abstract of the lecture:
Effective altruism is a philosophically-driven social movement that promotes using the resources we have available to maximize good. If we understand value in terms of desirable states of consciousness, it is clear that this is not limited to human beings. Peter Singer will discuss some of the issue that arise in putting this approach into action.
The event was jointly organized with Sekyra Foundation and the Centre for Philosophy, Ethics, and Religion at Charles University as part of the Czech European Researchers' Night 2024.
