CETE-P supported developing PumpGPT. It consists of a camera, computer, projector, water pump, microphones, and sound. PumpGPT only accepts handwritten prompts, and you have to pump to get a response. PumpGPT raises awareness of the work that is needed to make something available and useful, whether it is water or information. Water consumption per prompt in ChatGPT can be up to half a liter of water. Water is needed to quickly and easily obtain data, images, translations, or videos. Generative AI is also demanding in terms of electricity and labor. Generative AI is a machine. Technically, it is much more complex than a water pump, but the principle is not so different. 

PumpGPT was developed by Yaryna Derevianko, Elizaveta Isianova, John Hill and Ondrej Hrách under the mentorship of visual artist Ellen Pearlman, during the AI Ecologies: Ecological-Technological Entanglements workshop (13-14 and 20-21 September 2025 in Prague). It was premiered in November 2025 as part of AI Days in Prague (Dny AI), together with public screening of Language Is Leaving Me – An AI Cinematic Opera Of The Skin (Ellen Pearlman).
