Tuğba Yoldaş is a Postdoctoral Researcher in CETE-P within the project "Human-Centered AI for a Sustainable and Adaptable Society"
(reg. number CZ.02.01.01/00/23_025/0008691, co-funded by the European Union).
She obtained her PhD in Philosophy from the University of Alberta in 2025. In her doctoral dissertation, she explored whether AI systems could matter morally in their own right, or whether they could count as moral patients, and examined the ethical risks of creating such systems. Her research primarily focuses on questions in philosophy of mind, philosophy of AI, and ethics of AI.
Before joining CETE-P, Tuğba worked on responsible AI and the relationship between migrant integration and advanced digital technologies in Canada as part of the Bridging Divides research program team. She has taught courses on philosophy of mind, ethics and AI, philosophy of technology, epistemology, and metaphysics. She also currently serves as an Editor at the International Review of Information Ethics (IRIE) and as an Associate Editor at Philosophy and the Mind Sciences (PhiMiSci).
The project Human-centred AI for a Sustainable and Adaptive Society (HumanAId, reg. no. CZ.02.01.01/00/23_025/0008691) is implemented by the Institute of Philosophy CAS. The main objective of the project is to develop methodologies and tools that will enable the potential of large language models (LLMs) to be used in a way that is in line with the value and normative requirements of specific users in civil society and government.
