Leonie Bossert is a postdoctoral University Assistant at the Chair for Philosophy of Media and Technology at the Department of Philosophy at the University of Vienna. She is member of the Heidelberger Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities, Fellow of the Center for Interdisciplinary Research at the University of Bielefeld, and Co-Coordinator of the European network of the International Society for Environmental Ethics. Before joining the Chair for Philosophy of Media and Technology in Vienna, she was Akademische Rätin in Applied Ethics at the University of Tübingen, where she also received her PhD in Bioethics.
Her research focuses on political philosophy and applied ethics, with a strong focus on the intersection of sustainability and animal ethics with the ethics of artificial intelligence.
Besides various journal articles in journals like Philosophy and Technology, AI and Ethics, Environmental Ethics, Technology in Society, Gaia, and Sustainable Development, she has recently published her second monograph (Common future for humans and animals – Animals in Sustainable Development, Karl Alber, 2022, in German), which was awarded two prices.
