
Kateřina Marková is a PhD-level researcher at the Center for Environmental and Technology Ethics – Prague (CETE-P) and a PhD candidate at the Centre for Ethics as a Study in Human Value (CE) at the University of Pardubice. The working title of her dissertation is "Hyper-evil or Hyper-good? An Analysis of Ethical Challenges Exposed in Vulnerable Communities through Hyper-personalization of Digital Content". In her project, she examines the impact of digital content – curated through algorithms guided by the principle of profitability – on the autonomy of the members of vulnerable communities and the communities themselves. She conducts her research under the grant Human-centered AI for a Sustainable and Adaptive Society (HumanAId) and with the supervision of Juraj Hvorecký (CETE-P) and Ondřej Beran (CE).
Kateřina holds an MA in Multimedia from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Porto, Portugal. She has over 15 years of working experience as a design professional in the tech industry. Her prior research focused on the impact of our day-to-day data management decisions on the world and the people around us after we die from the ethical, ecological, and economic perspectives.
